This story is about a girl's mother who turned into a turtle. Long ago in a village, there lived a good mother and daughter, and a terrible, ill-natured mother and daughter. The bad mother invited the good one, "Let's go fishing." The good mother said, "Yes, let's go." After saying so, the mothers left their daughters behind and went to catch fish. The good woman caught fish where there were many. The bad woman caught fish where there were few. The good woman was able to catch many fish. Then, the bad woman became very jealous because she could only catch a few fish. Envious of the good woman who caught many fish, the bad woman went to her and said, "Sister, you've caught a lot of fish." While looking, she said, "Sister, look over there." "There are many fish." As soon as the good woman looked, the bad woman pushed her into deep water. Pushed in that way, the good woman fell between large rocks in the water and died. She died. Then, the bad woman caught many fish on the side with many and when night fell, she went home. When she arrived home, the good woman's daughter asked, "Where is my mother?" "Isn't she back yet?" Then the bad woman said, "She is still looking for fish in the deep parts of the river." "I left your mother by the river." Thinking her mother was still fishing, the girl ran to where her mother was catching fish. When she arrived, she found her mother's sandals and fishing net near the deep part of the river. She could only find those and could not see her mother, so she searched while crying. But she could not see her. While she was crying, a voice came from the deep part of the river, "Daughter, I'm here." When she looked, there was a large turtle. Seeing the large turtle, the girl was surprised and asked, "Oh, how did you become a turtle, mother?" When asked, the mother told how the bad mother pushed her into the water and how she died in the river. The mother said, "Daughter, don't worry." "I'm always beside you." Then the girl was very happy to see her mother again. She was happy and returned home. Then she went to meet her mother the next morning and talked with her. Thus, every day, she went to the river to meet and talk with her mother who had become a turtle. Then, the bad woman wondered, "Why does that girl keep going to the river" "when her mother is not there?" She wanted to know. She secretly followed the girl to the river one day. Then she found the girl talking to the mother turtle. Fearing people would find out she had pushed her into the river, she returned home and told the villagers, "Hey, there's a big turtle in the deep part of the river." "Let's catch it and eat it!" Hearing this, the girl went to her mother to tell her. "Mother, the villagers are trying to catch and eat you." "But don't be afraid, mother." "I'll show you the way to escape." The girl went back. She went back home. The next day, the villagers really tried to catch the turtle. When the villagers came to catch her, as the villagers with their nets headed upstream, the girl told her mother, "Mother, they're coming upstream!" "Escape downstream!" Then, the villagers, saying she had escaped downstream, came downstream. The girl said, "Mother, they've come downstream!" "Escape upstream!" They carried her back to the village. When they brought her back to the village, they put the turtle in a pot of boiling water, and boiled her over the fire. As they boiled her, the girl cried. "Oh, please don't kill my mother!" "Please don't boil her!" But the villagers did not listen to her words. They put the mother in a large pot, and boiled her over the hot fire. As they did so, the mother, in great heat, was near death. As she was nearing death, she left a final message for her daughter. "My daughter, the villagers are boiling me now." Having said this, the villagers ate and ate the mother turtle, and then threw her bones all around. The girl picked up all the bones the villagers had left after eating. She collected all the bones, dug a hole, and buried the mother turtle's bones. After burying them, after a while, very beautiful flowers sprouted from the place where the bones were buried. Flowers sprouted, and bloomed. The girl picked the flowers, sold them at the market, and lived happily.
