Now, the story is about the first Manau dance. Once upon a time, when people did not yet know about Manau dance, the celestial beings started the Manau dance first. To conduct the Manau dance grandly, they invited all kinds of birds. Having being invited, various birds combined their forces and flew in a line towards the land of the sun and enthusiastically participated in the grand Manau festival of the celestial beings. After the Manau festival concluded, on the way back to their dwellings, they found a big banyan tree bearing beautiful fruits, and rested there. During this break, the blackbird said to the other birds, "Let's eat the fruits!" Then, the flycatcher said, "Not yet!" "Before eating the fruits," "let's dance the Manau first," "then let's eat them!" The other birds agreed with these words. "That's right!" "We have just returned from the celestial beings' Manau." "Now we understand Manau." "After we all dance the Manau," "let's eat them together." Spreading their tails and wings at the banyan tree, they all danced the Manau beautifully. While the birds were dancing the Manau beautifully at the banyan tree, an orphan boy who came for hunting found them.
