Title Myit Kaja Ai Wa Hte Myit N Kaja Ai Wa | The Good- and Bad-tempered People
Description Translation (Seng Pan & Keita Kurabe)
I am telling you a story about good-tempered and bad-tempered people. Once upon a time, there lived a good-tempered family and an bad-tempered family. The bad-tempered family did not agree with each other in anything they did. The good-tempered family, on the other hand, were united in whatever they did. The good-tempered family members made hunting their business. One day, the man of the good-tempered family set a trap in the forest and went to see if his prey had been caught. When he arrived at the place where he had set the trap, he found a tiger and tried to kill it. He tried to kill the tiger in the trap. When he tried to kill it, the tiger said, "Hunter, please don't shoot me!" "I have a family like you." "I have to look after them." "So please don't kill me!" "I will give you whatever you ask." The man asked, "What will you give me?" "When you go home" "put every basket out in front of your house." "I will return the favor." So the man did not kill the tiger. He went home. When he returned home, his wife, who was waiting at home, asked, "What did you get today?" The man replied, "I didn't get anything." "A tiger was trapped." "That tiger asked me not to kill it." "It told me to put all the baskets out in front of our house." "It said it would return the favor." He replied to his wife. The good-tempered family was of one mind. The wife, the children, and the whole family did as he said. They put all the baskets out in front of their house. Then they went to bed. The next morning, all the baskets were full of gold. Thus they became very wealthy. When they became wealthy, they helped people in need in their neighborhood. Rumours of this came to the ears of the bad-tempered family. The man from the bad-tempered family came and asked the man from the good-tempered family, "Brother, you do nothing but hunt." "How did you become so wealthy?" The good-tempered man said, "I trapped a tiger in the forest." "When I tried to kill it" "it asked me not to kill it." "It said it would return the favor." He explained what had happened to him. The man from the bad-tempered family set a trap in the forest in the same way. Indeed, a tiger was caught in the trap. The tiger asked him for forgiveness. It said that it would repay him if he did not kill it. Then the bad-tempered man went home. When he arrived home, his wife asked, "Did you not catch anything?" He told her everything the tiger had asked him to do. But she did not believe him. What did she say instead of believing him? "Where would such gold come from?" "There will only be tiger dung in the baskets!" But the man wanted to become wealthy. Unnoticed by his wife, he put all the baskets out in front of his house. Then he went to bed. Then since they did not agree with each other next morning all the baskets were full of tiger dung. They were all full of tiger dung. Since then, the bad-tempered family changed their minds. They did not say a bad word. They were of one mind. They lived happily with their neighbors. Thank you very much.
