I'm going to tell you a story about "The fairy and the orphan." Once upon a time, there was an orphan boy at a rich's house. The rich man's children were bullying that orphan boy. They let him look after sheep, goats and cows. The orphan boy had to sleep in a shed too. While the orphan boy was looking after the animals, the rich children came there and beat him with a stick. Then, the father of the fairies from the sky looked at them. "Look at that!" "The orphan has been bullied." "Go and save him!" he said to his daughters. He said to his eldest daughter, "My daughter, you go there." "Save him." His daughter said, "No, I don't want to!" "It's a too complicated place." "I don't feel comfortable there." "I don't want to go to the earth." Then, the father said to his second daughter, "Then, you go there." But she said, "No, I don't want to!" The father asked each daughter. "The third girl, you go," but she said "No." He said to the fourth daughter but she said, "No." He said to the fifth daughter but she said, "No." Then, the seventh youngest daughter said, "I will go there, father." The seventh girl went down to the earth. Then, at dusk the fairy showed up beside the boy while he was looking after the cows. She was sparkling and shining so brightly. The boy couldn't even look at her. The fairy stood near him and said, "Don't be afraid." "I am coming here to save you." But she was so beautiful, so radiant, that the orphan was frightened and ran away. When he ran away, the fairy made the way dark while he was running. She followed him. When she was near him, he ran away again. Then, the fairy made the boy pierced by a spike. The boy couldn't run anymore. She was able to catch up with him. And she said, "My father ordered me to save you." "To help you from the rich man," "please take me to the rich man's house." Then, the orphan boy said, "A beautiful fairy like you shouldn't follow me." "I sleep with animals." She said, "It's okay." "I will follow you." "No matter where you go, I will follow you." "Just take me with you." So, the boy took her to the rich man's house. He took her to the cowshed where he slept. That night, the cowshed where the fairy was shone brightly. When the rich man saw it, he said, "Hey, there is a very beautiful girl." "You are my guest." "Please come up to my house." The fairy said, "It's okay." "I will stay only here." "Don't worry." The rich family treated her to delicious meals. They put the orphan's food in a dog dish, and they treated the fairy with nice plates. The fairy gave her food to the orphan and let him eat delicious meals. That night, she stayed in the cowshed. The next morning, she talked to the rich man. She said to the rich man, "Can you give the orphan boy to me?" The rich man said, "Why should I?" "I can't!" "I look after him since his parents died." "I even held their funeral by costing much money." "So, he needs to do work by staying at my house." "He can't leave my house!" Then, the fairy said, "I will give the debt instead of him." "Just give me the list of how much I should pay back." The rich man wrote down the list one by one. "This is all." Then, the fairy said, "I will repay this." "Tomorrow, I will take the orphan boy with me." And when everyone went to bed at night, she went up to the sky and she told her sisters what she needed to pay the debt of the boy. Each of her sisters brought materials needed for sewing clothe and handloom weaving materials to the earth. That night, they made everything on the list that had to be paid back. When they finished, the sisters returned to the sky. Only the youngest girl remained on earth. In the morning, when the rich man woke up, she gave him the cloths, footwear, and everything else, just as it was on the list. Then, she said, "Well, I will take the orphan boy with me." She took him out of that house. She said to him, "Where was your parents' house?" The orphan boy said, "On the edge of the village." He took her to the edge of the village. The fairy said to the boy, "Close your eyes for a moment." While the boy closed his eyes, she created a house and a garden with her power. And she said, "This is the house where we are going to live from now on." They lived together there and got one son. When the son grew up a little, the fairy said, "Now, our son is grown up, so you are not alone anymore." "I will have to go back to my father." But her son would not let her go and cried. So, she tore a bit of her longyi and made a scarf. She wrapped it around her son's neck. She said, "Don't follow me," and went back to her place. After some years later, their son grew up. The father, the orphan, became very ill. The son asked, "Who is my mother?" The father always replied, "Your mother is dead." He never told him who she was. But when his son asked again and again, the father said, "If you want to know who your mother is" "ask that rich old man." And the father died. So the son went to the rich old man and asked him. "If you want to know who your mother is" "there is a lake four or five mountains over from here." "There will be seven fairies who will come to the lake to bathe." "The youngest is your mother." The son wanted to see his mother. He got his bow and arrow and other things ready. He went to the lake where his mother would come to bathe. He watched it from behind a bush. After some time, the fairies were there and took a shower. And when they were about to return to the sky, the son suddenly grabbed the youngest fairy and held her tight. He said, "Mom, Mom, Mom." He never let her go. The fairy said to him, "Who are you to call me mother?" "Where do you come from?" The son showed her the scarf around his neck. He said, "I heard that this was given to me by my mother." The fairy remembered when she saw it. She knew that her son came there because the rich man told him about it. She gave him four bamboo tubes. She said to him, "From now on, don't come to me. Okay?" "I am a fairy. You can't come to me." "Of these four bamboo tubes, give one to a rich man." "One of them you will take home and scatter what is inside." "The other two, scatter them on your way back without looking back." They were bamboo tubes containing seeds. The son did as his mother told him. He went home, scattering the seeds in the forest on his way home. When he finished scattering the seeds, he looked back. He saw that the path he had walked on was covered with plants. The forest was so covered with vegetation that he could not see where he had come from. When he returned to the village in that way, he gave one of the bamboo tubes to the rich old man. The old man opened it to see what was in it. When he opened it, the seeds popped and he died. The son took the rest of the bamboo tubes home. When he scattered the seeds inside the tube, various livestock came out. Many plants and trees grew that produced food. Thus, thanks to his mother, the son became wealthy.
