Title Tsa a lachyum (The Drunken Rooster) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
I will tell you about alcohol. Once upon a time, there was a poor village. Most villagers brewed alcohol in that village. They earned a living in that way. After they extracted the alcohol, they left the fermented rice solids outside their houses. A rooster saw the fermented rice and began to peck at it. One day, he ate till he got drunk. Then he left, drunk. He saw a flock of chickens fighting each other. He thought of himself as a strong cock because he had drunk some alcohol. He shouted, "Who wants to fight me? Come on, let's fight!" He fought with a few of them and then went back home. The next day, his whole body ached from the fight. When he looked at himself in a pool, he noticed that his eyes were swollen. He thought, "Who made me like this?" At that time, there was a dog sitting near him. He asked the dog, "My friend, who made me like this yesterday? Who fought me? Was it the cat?" The dog said, "No, it was not the cat." Then the cock asked, "Was it the duck?" The dog answered, "No." The cock asked, "Was it the turkey?" The dog replied, "No, not the turkey. I don't want to say." The cock said, "Then, was it you?" The dog denied it, "No, that wasn't me. It was a hen who did this to you." The cock said, "What? A hen made me this swollen?" The dog said, "When you are drunk, you become weak. Even a hen can easily defeat you." Since that day, the cock told his friends that even a hen could easily defeat you when you are drunk.
