Title Shingjut shingtai hkrit ai ni a lam (The caterpillar boy) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
The title of this story is 'The worm that became a man.' It was told long ago, and I retold this. In ancient times, a caterpillar became a young man. The caterpillar was a young man, and the girl was a human. In an ancestral spirit-calling place, the young caterpillar became a human at night. So they were lovers at night, and he was stuck on the tree top during the day. One day, people from their village had a party, so they went to pick leaves. When the two lovers met at night, the girl told her boyfriend, "I may need to pick leaves tomorrow." The boy asked, "Why?" "My neighbors are having a party, so they called me to go with them," the girl replied. "I will also help you to collect leaves," responded the boy. "Alright. Sure can. Many of us will go tomorrow to pick leaves," invited the girl and the boy who wanted to help, "I will also help to collect leaves." The boy came to help the next day. The girl waited for him, "E, that one told me to help me pick leaves, but did not follow me and did not reach here." After that, the girl did not wait and went ahead. In the forest, the boy shook the leaves down into his girl's baskets from the treetop where the girl went to collect leaves. The girl thought, "Today, why do wild leaves and vegetables fall into my basket?" Then she poured them out. She continued picking leaves, and her boyfriend poured down the wild leaves, so she threw them out. The boy and the girl met at night. The boy told her, "Hey girl, I helped pick leaves today, but you threw them out all the time." The girl said to him, "You did not put leaves. You only put wild leaves in, so I threw them out." Thus, the boy insisted, "No. I have tried to put in many leaves, but you just poured them out." The girl had not been happy since that night. "What kind of man is he?" She was not satisfied with him. The following night, the boy called her to meet. When the boy called her out before, they went outside to visit and hang out happily. The boy called her from downstairs, but she did not respond, and he called her from outside her house, but she did not give feedback. But now, even though the boy called her like before, she thought, "What kind of man is he?" as she was unhappy. So she did not go and meet him. Even though the boy called her to come out, his girlfriend did not come out. So the boy thought, "Girl, why don't you come out when I ask you tonight?" "Why don't you want to come out? She might get another man," and he determined, "When you come out to pound the rice tomorrow, I will stick in front of your house." "I will adhere to the doorway." The caterpillar attached at the doorway, and the girl got out to pound the rice carrying a basket and holding a wicker. At that time, the caterpillar was waiting for her on her way out. It stuck to the doorway. That caterpillar adhered to the girl's breast and dangled. The girl knew that protruding was due to the caterpillar, so she was terrified. Subsequently, she went near the water and climbed up the rock to jump off, "I will jump off and die here." At that moment, the caterpillar dropped from her, changed into a human, then said, "I intentionally scare you. Are you really afraid?" As the caterpillar became a boy, the story was about the fear of a caterpillar. Here is the end.
