Earlier in the day a large group of old women had held several ‘finishing up’ ceremonies in which they performed various yawulyu associated with important business people who had passed away since the last performance of Jardiwanpa. They are held for the widows of the deceased and involve a lot of yellow ochre. It is important that men are not there for these yawulyu and many of them are danced completely naked. In particular they held:
-Jardiwanpa yawulyu for a Jangala who was Lydia’s brother – his widowed wife was also present
-Puturlu yawulyu for a Napangardi who had only died two months ago
-The emu section of Jardiwanpa yawulyu
