This is about how the rainbow came to be. Once upon a time, there were two youths in a village. They lived on opposite sides of a river. Since childhood, they had herded cows and buffalo. As they grew up, they fell in love. However, when their parents discovered their love, they did not approve. The reason their parents didn't approve was that they were close relatives. Their parents didn't allow them to see each other again. As the water level rose too high, the girl couldn't cross the river to see her beloved, so she whistled as a signal. But she didn't receive any signal back from her beloved. She assumed that he might have found a new lover. Heartbroken, she became upset and fell ill. After two weeks, she began to recover. Then she went to the river again to reach out to her love. She sat near the river and whistled again. She still didn't receive any reply, so she thought, "He definitely has a new lover." She was heartbroken and fell ill for four to five months. On the other hand, the boy argued with his parents because it had been a long time since he had contacted his beloved. He said, "Mom, I love only her. If it isn't her, I will not marry any other girl." His mother replied, "If you refuse to marry anyone, then leave my house!" So he left his parents' home. After a few weeks, he returned to persuade his parents to allow their love. By then, his mother seemed willing to agree, but his father still disagreed. He argued with them once more and then left the house. He said, "I won't come back to this house if I can't marry her!" His father was angry at him. When he came back home one more time, his father was waiting for him while holding a knife. The father said, "If you still love her and go against us, I will kill you!" He said, "Father, you don't need to kill me. I will leave this house forever. You will never see me again. I will live with the girl I love." When he went to the river, it was already dark. So he slept near the river. At night, it was raining, and the water level had risen. He got up and decided to swim across. However, he drowned in the strong current. On the other hand, the girl recovered after being ill for a month. She went near the river again. She was sitting there alone. At that time, she saw a rainbow. She said to herself, "If that rainbow were a bridge, I could cross to the other side of the river." There were fishermen catching fish in the upper part of the river. The rainbow looked like a bridge in her eyes. She said, "Oh, it's really a bridge." Then she walked onto it, but she fell into the river. She was drowning and struggling in the water. The fishermen saw her and rescued her. They asked her, "Why did you try to commit suicide?" She said, "I really wanted to see my lover, so I sat here because I missed him. At that time, I saw something that looked like a bridge, so I walked onto it." They said, "Don't you know that your boyfriend passed away a month ago? He argued with his parents and left the house. He died while trying to swim across the river when the water level had risen." She was heartbroken after hearing the news about her lover. She didn't return home after that. She stayed there all the time. Later, she died as well. The parts of the rainbow from each side of the river meet in the middle and become one.
