The story I am going to tell is about the selection of the king's treasurer. Once upon a time, there was a king who had a trusted treasurer. The treasurer was righteous and never used the king's money for his own benefit. Instead, he saved it, so that it could be used when the citizens were in trouble and in need. However, the treasurer died of old age. Then the king hired another man as his treasurer. But the new treasurer spent most of the king's money, and the king slowly began to lose his wealth. Therefore, the king announced that he would hold a ceremony to select a new treasurer. All the citizens of the kingdom went to participate in the selection event. There was a widow and her son who heard the announcement. The mother said, "My son, anyone may participate. But if you go, others will mock you. Don't go there to participate in it." He said, "Mom, don't worry. I will go to the selection event." The mother said, "If you truly wish to go, then go." He asked his mother's permission and went there. Even before reaching the palace, the path was covered with gold and money. People asked each other about it. They asked, "Who left this gold and money? Can we take it?" Then some suggested, "We can take it secretly. But the king must not know it. You may take it, but hide it carefully. If the king finds out we took this gold and money, we will be in trouble. If he doesn't know, you could become rich." They picked up the gold and money and hid it in their pockets. However, the widow's son thought to himself, "I am here to be selected as a treasurer, not to take that gold." Then he didn't take anything and walked into the palace. When everyone was inside the palace, the king said, "I believe everyone here today is righteous and kind. The selection process will begin now." And he continued, "Dance in front of me one after another. You can't put anything aside. You can't take off anything." Everyone was so scared, but they didn't dare to disobey the king. So they started dancing. All the gold and money fell to the ground as they danced. Then the king felt disappointed and thought, "Everyone is dishonest." Only the widow's son was left to dance. The king thought, "He will be just like everyone else." But the boy said, "I will dance for you." When he danced, nothing fell to the ground because he hadn't taken any gold or money. Therefore, the king chose him to be his treasurer. He took both the widow and her son to the palace and let them live there happily.
