Title Hpau tawng yen la a lam (The Foolish Husband) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
In the past, there was a couple. The husband depended on his wife so much that he always asked her before doing anything. Then the wife was angry at him for being stupid. When they cleaned the field, he asked her, "How much should I cut and clean?" She replied, "Just clean enough space for you to sit." When she came to check, he had only cleaned that small area, which was just enough space for him to sit. When they had to burn all the weeds they had cleaned, he asked her, "How much should I burn?" She replied, "Just enough to clear the space where you sit." Then he only burned that much. Before he built a hut, he asked her, "How big should I build?" His wife said, "Build as big as a crab shell." Later, she asked him, "Have you finished building the hut?" He picked up the crab shell and put it on the tree. He showed her it and said, "I built it." She complained, "How stupid you are! You are just a foolish man!" She never believed what her husband said from that day.
