Title Jahkraima hte lalaw ma (Orphan and bullies) with English translation
Description Translation (Seng Pan)
The story I am going to tell you now is about an orphan and bullies. A long time ago, there was an orphan and the bullies. The bullies were really bad. They enjoyed tormenting the orphan. One day, the orphan cooked the rice from a stone pot. So, they were fond of the orphan's stone pot and asked for it. Then, the orphan gave it to them. But he said a word, "When you cook the rice in it, shake it a bit." The bullies took it and cooked the rice in it. But the rice was not cooked. They didn't follow what the orphan said. They lighted up a big fire, but the rice was not cooked. The bullies thought the orphan told a lie to them. Thus they looked for the orphan. However, the orphan had already moved to another country. And he was adopted by a man. He was also married to a woman and also given a house. But the bullies died on the way since they were exhausted.

Ya ngai hkaina maumwi gaw jahkrai ma hte lalaw ma na lam re. Moi shawng e da jahkrai ma hte lalaw ma nga ai, dai lalaw ma ni gaw grai n kaja ai da. Lalaw ma ni grai n kaja ai majaw jahkrai ma i grai roi sha ai da, jahkrai ma hpe grai roi sha shanhte ni gaw dip rip ai le i, grai dip shaloi jahkrai ma gaw lani mi hte shanhte ni gaw nlu di shat shadu dan ai da. Dai shaloi lalaw ma ni ra marin majaw jahkrai ma na n lung di dai hpe hpyi ai da. Dai hpe hpyi ai shaloi jahkrai ma jaw kau ai da, dai jahkrai ma e ga langai htet dat ai da, nanhte shat shadu sha yang wan n htaw hpe garai na shadu sha mu ngu da. Ding ngu shaloi shanhte mung wa shat shadu sha yu ai da, dai wa hkut mung n hkraw, jahkrai ma ga n madat di shanhte ni gaw wan law law di na shadu sha ai wa hkut mung n hkut ai da. Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of a community-based collaborative fieldwork project in northern Myanmar. As of March 19, 2025, a total of 2,491 stories are available, accompanied by 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,584 translations.

Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Translations were prepared by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
