Title Chahkyawn hte bainam (Wolf and goat) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The title of the story I am going to tell now is 'A fox and a goat'. Once upon a time, there was a crafty fox. One day, while he was searching for food, he fell into a well. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get out of the well. In the end, he became depressed and sat in the well. At that time, there was a goat who was searching for food. He found a fox in the well. He didn't know that the fox had accidentally fallen into the well. He asked the fox, "Is the water clear?" The fox answered, "Yes, it is. Come and drink it." Without thinking of a way to get out, the goat jumped down into the well. After drinking the water from the well, he asked the fox, "My friend, how can we get out of here?" The fox said, "There is only one way to get out of this well. You stand on the soil, and I will climb onto your back to get out. Then I will pull you up." The goat believed the fox and did as the fox said. The fox climbed out of the well. Then the goat said, "Help me as you promised." But the fox only laughed and said, "If you were truly smart and had a little sense, you should have thought of a way to get out before you jumped in. You are so stupid." And he ran away. The goat regretted, thinking, "I was wrong to trust the fox." In the end, he died in the well.
