Once upon a time, there was a mother squirrel and her children in a forest. They searched for food every day to survive. When her children were still young, she searched for food for them. They lived in a tree hollow. She left her babies safely in the tree hollow and went out to search for food for all of them every day. She searched for fruits every day. One of her babies was a male, and the other was a female. The baby squirrels wasted a lot of fruits. They didn't eat the fruits, even if they were slightly overripe or rotten. The mother squirrel had to go out every day to search for fresh fruits and feed her babies. Day after day, she had to travel far and wide to search for fresh fruits. She always arrived home late. When she returned home at night, she told her babies, "Don't go out. You might be caught by a wild cat." They listened to their mother and didn't go out anywhere. They stayed at home. But the mother squirrel was always late getting home. They didn't want to wait for their mother while staying inside. One day, the female baby said to her brother, "Brother, I will go out and wait for Mom." While they were outside waiting for their mother, a wild cat came down from the tree and pounced on them. Luckily, a branch broke and made a loud sound. They were startled and quickly ran back into their hollow. They peeked and saw that it was the wild cat. They were almost caught by the wild cat because they hadn't listened to their mother. They were terribly frightened. They told their mother what had happened when she got home. The mother warned them, "Listen to me. Don't go out anywhere, or you will become food for the wild cat." The next day, she went out to search for food, leaving her babies at home. A rabbit overheard their conversation. He heard the mother squirrel telling her babies every day not to go out as she was worried that the wild cat might catch them. One day, the mother squirrel went out to look for food. Although their mother had warned them not to go out, they decided to leave the hollow. They said, "Mom is too tired from searching for food alone. We are big enough to look for our own food. Let's go find our own food." The rabbit knew that the mother squirrel was worried about her babies, so he said to the young squirrels, "Your mother is worried about you. Don't go out." They said, "We don't want to stay inside." And they went out of their hollow. They went far away to look for fresh fruits because they didn't want to eat ripe ones. Soon, they arrived at a fruit tree whose fruits they loved to eat. They were so happy and ate many fruits. Then they said, "Let's take some for Mom." They picked a few fruits and planned to bring them home. They were so focused on the fruits that they didn't notice the wild cat secretly following them. The rabbit quietly followed them because he was worried. He thought to himself, "What will happen to those siblings? Will the wild cat catch them?" He saw that the wild cat was about to attack them from behind while they were picking fruits. So he threw a stone at the wild cat. The stone hit the wild cat on the head, and she fell unconscious. As soon as she fainted, the rabbit told the young squirrels to quickly gather the fruits, and he hurriedly led them home. The mother squirrel got home earlier than her babies. She was surprised because they were not at home. She was worried at home. Later, she was happy when her babies returned home. The babies told her everything that had happened. She was very thankful to the rabbit who had saved her children. From then on, they lived happily as good neighbors.
