Title Mungkan hte hkrum tim myit nkahpra ai (A servant who was looking after the horses) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
In a village, there was a rich man who owned many horses. He had a servant who was looking after the horses. The boy worked under the rich man for a long time. He was very talented in caring for the horses. So, his boss appreciated him and gifted him a horse. The rich man said, "I will present you a horse because you are very talented in caring for my horses." The boy was thrilled. He rode that horse every day. One day, the horse kicked him off while he was riding on it. He fell off from the horse and was seriously injured. His legs were broken. He couldn't work, so he felt sad. He was in despair. He thought, "My legs are broken on the day when I feel the happiest in my life. I am so desperate." One day, the war started in the country, and every man from the village had to go as front-line troops to the war. The chief said, "Only women, children and disabled people will be left behind." Since he was disabled, he had to stay at home. He had to stay with the women and children in the village. All the front-line troops were dead in the war. A few days later, the neighbour village attacked their village. They caught everyone from their village. The villagers were scared. One of his friends sadly said, " I am still young. I do not even marry yet." But, the boy was not afraid at all. He kept his grave face. The leader of their enemy saw him and asked, "You don't seem like you are scared of us at all! Everyone is afraid of us. But, why aren't you afraid of us?" Are you daredevil like us?" Then, the boy said, "I am already in despair. You can kill me if you want. I no longer want to live on this earth too. I am just a disabled person. I can't do what I want because of my broken legs. So, kill me if you want. I have nothing to be sad for killing me." When the leader heard his reply, he praised him, "You are such a brave boy." And he released all the villagers. The boy had been appointed as the village head too.
