Title Hkamhkam u a lam (The Hkamhkam bird) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The story is about the Hkam Hkam bird and the crow. They were close friends. One day, the Hkam Hkam bird said to the crow, "My friend! Let's make each other beautiful. We have only white colour on our bodies. So, let's make each other gorgeous." The crow agreed with him. The Hkam Hkam bird said, "Colour me first." Then, the crow carried the colourful indigos, which were used in weaving, with his beak. And he beautifully painted the Hkam Hkam bird. He told him, "You look great now." Then, the Hkam Hkam bird said, "I will make you beautiful too. Move a bit closer to the indigo pot." Then, he pushed the crow into the black indigo pot. The crow's whole body became black. The Hkam Hkam bird ran away and hid in the deep forest till today. He didn't go out in the daytime. He went out to find food only at night. It was because he was afraid of the crow. The Hkam Hkam bird was jealous and made a mistake to the crow. So, jealousy is not good. If you are truly close friends, you can show your love for each other without being jealous. This is the end of the story.
