Description Translation (Gun Mai)
A long time ago, a hunter was walking in a forest. When he was walking, he heard a voice around him. "Save me! Save me! Save me!" a person loudly shouted. The hunter heard the voice and was looking where the voice came from. When he was looking at all sides, the voice came from the above side. So, when he looked at the upside, he saw that a crow was grabbing a little dragon, a snake. Thus, the hunter also thought that "Such asking to save, I should save it," and he threw with his weapon. When he threw, the little snake was dropped and he saved the little snake. So, the little dragon said that "I thank you very much. Please come to my father's house. Let's go to my father's house. I will give you whatever for your gratitude. I will tell my father all about this." Then, the hunter said that "I don't want to go." "Let' go, let's go," the little dragon kept calling him. "I will give you something that useful for you. "Even if you don't like money, I will give you something that will be useful for you," the dragon said. So, the hunter followed the little dragon. When they got to the dragon's father, the little dragon told his father that he was saved by the hunter. So, the dragon's father also thanked a lot to the hunter and gave him a necklace. The power of the necklace was the ability to know in advance whoever said whatever. The hunter took it and left home but it got dark on the way. At that time, the birds were talking a lot. "We have to move our place because it said that a landslide is going to happen in the village. There will be a landslide in the village and there will be a flood," the birds said. The hunter heard about what the birds said. Before he left, the dragon's father also told him that "You can't tell the people what you know. If you tell, you will die and will become a rock." But, the birds were talking that there would be a landslide and flood in the village. So, he immediately went and told the villagers that "Villagers, listen to me. You have to evacuate from the village tonight. It is going to happen a landslide. Let's evacuate." Thus, all villagers ran away and evacuated. The hunter thought to himself that "It said that I will die if I tell like this. But, it is not good that if all villagers die rather than I, one person dies." So, he told the villagers to evacuate quickly. Thus, all the villagers also ran away and evacuated. After all the villagers ran, the hunter became a big rock. After the hunter became the rock, all the villagers could also escape and they also knew that the rock was the hunter. So, they used to come to the rock and say thanks words.

Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
