Title Mungdan langai lu ai ma (The child who got a country) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
Once upon a time, there was a family of three. While their child was sleeping at night, the parents prepared to eat a rooster. In fact, the child was not falling asleep yet. He saw his parents eating chicken. The next morning, he told his parents, "I dreamed about you eating chicken last night." The parents spread the news about their child across the village. People from other countries also heard that the child had a special power. The king wanted to test the child and said, "I will give gold and other valuable things to the one who can find my honey." The king told the child, "If you can't find the honey, I will kill you." The child was depressed and slept that night. He would be killed if he couldn't find it the next morning. He was extremely depressed. At night, he wanted to pee and went out. He saw that the ants were struggling to cross the other side of the water. So he broke a branch and placed it for them to use like a bridge. The ants asked him, "Why are you sitting here without sleeping?" He said, "Because I will be killed if I can't find the king's honey tomorrow morning." He told the ants about his problem. "The king's honey is under the stairs," the ants said. "We usually go there to lick the honey," they continued. The next morning, he told the king, "My king, your honey is under the stairs." The king awarded him a lot of gold. In another country, there was a drought. They didn't have any rain. "Why is there no rain in our country? I will let the one who knows why we don't have rain marry my daughter and give that person half of this country," the king said. Then, the child thought about the reason why. That night, he went to the back of the pigsty to pee. There was a mother frog and her baby there. He peed on them. The baby frog said, "Mom, it is raining." The mother frog said, "It's not rain. A human is urinating on us." The baby frog asked, "When will we have rain then?" The mother frog said, "Tomorrow morning around 6 a.m., there will be rain in the area of the palace." The man slept that night and went to the king the next morning. He told the king, "My king, it will be raining around 6 a.m. There will be rain in your palace." When it was 6 a.m. in the morning, there was a heavy rain. The king let him marry his daughter and gave him half of the country. This is the end.

Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,564 translations are currently available (March 6, 2025). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
