Title Magwi hte woi (The elephant and the monkey) with English translation
Description Translation (Seng Pan)
A long time ago, there were an elephant and a monkey in a deep forest. They always competed with each other a lot. So, the monkey said, "I can climb trees very well. I could climb any tree." When the monkey boasted about himself, the elephant also said, "I can cross any rivers even it's as big as the ocean. And I can break any tree. I can also carry or draw any tree." As both of them were boasting themselves, they couldn't decide who was better. Then they went to the owl to let him decide who was better. But the owl said, "Before I decide who is better, both of you need to go to a place." They listened to him carefully. "There was a tall tree in the middle of a river. You two have to pick up the fruits from that tree," the owl said. Then they departed to the tree together. But the monkey couldn't cross the river. The elephant said, "Now you are not able to boast yourself. Ride on my shoulder." They went into the river together and reached the tree which was in the middle of the river. But the elephant couldn't climb the tree. The monkey said, "Now you cannot pick up the fruits. But I can." He climbed the tree and picked some fruits. After that, they went back together to the owl. When they arrived, the owl said, "This is the answer for you. Each animal possesses at least a skill."
