Title Lapu hte chyahkan (The snake and the crab) with English translation
Description Translation (Seng Pan)
A long time ago, there was a man who was weeding grass in his field. As he kept weeding grass with chopping hoe, he found a crab. "I like it," he said and picked it up. After that, he continued doing it and saw a snake. It bit him, and he collapsed. He was in pain and couldn't get up too. The snake also stayed just beside him. The crab that he kept in his pocket came out and said, "Who harmed my saviour?" When he looked around, he saw a snake. And he understood that the snake bit his saviour. "Why did you bite the one who was weeding grass in the field, my saviour? Now make him relieve! If not, I'll kill you. I'll kill you with my claws," the crab yelled. "Don't kill me! I will save him," the snake answered. As he promised to save him, he removed the poison from the man's body. Then the man got well and could continue doing his work.

Jahkan yi dai jahkan ra ai ngu na she shi wa rim la na she sumbu kaw bang da ai da. Hpang dai hku shawt nga re she lapu wa she bai pru wa ai da. Lapu pru wa she shi ye wa she lapu wa um dai hkau na shawt ai dai masha hpe wa sa achye galau kau ai da. Sa achye galau kau she aw dai hkau na shawt ai wa she machyi na galau taw sai gale taw sai kaning ndi ai da. Lapu mung dai kaw sha naw hpum taw ai da. Re she dai shi na sumbu kaw na wa she shi na sumbu kaw na dai jahkan wa pru wa ye she nan sa tsun ai da. Yi nye hkye la ai wa um hkau na shawt madu hpe nye hkye madu hpe kadai wa hpa baw di dat sa ta ngu na yu ai da. Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
