Title Salu salat a shabrai (The wage) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
Once upon a time, a man and his child lived in a small town. The father was very old. Ths son was so lazy. The son spent the money his father earned and was happy wasting his father in a lousy business. The father was so sorrowful. He had three friends. He told his three rich friends, "I will send my son to you one year to be a slave." He said to one of his friends. His friend replied, "Yes, sure." Then he brought his son and sent him to his friend. "You work here as a laborer for a year," the father said. The father's wealthy friend thought, "This could be testing my mind." So he did not ask anything for the son to do. He did not order anything and let him stay for a year. When the time was reached a year later, he gave the son a gold basket. The son went back to his father with the gold open basket. The father asked his son, "My son, are you tired as you worked so hard?" The son answered, "My father, I worked all the tasks very hard so I could get this gold basket." The son showed the basket to his father. When he showed it to his father, the father did not even look at it and threw it to the unfloored front of their house. The son kept quiet because of his father's manner. The father thought, due to the quietness of his son, "Whatever it is, I am sure that it was not hard-earned money from his son. So I will send him to another friend." "I will send you to another friend," the father told his son, but the child did not respond. "I will send you to my friend to work there for a year," the father repeated his words. When the father told the son again, the child said, "Okay." The father sent his son to another wealthy friend. His second friend thought, "Whatever it is, my friend is testing my mind." Therefore he did not ask to do anything. After one year, his wealthy friend gave the son a gold basket as his first friend. The same thing as before, the father did not even look at it and threw it away. The son also said nothing. As the gold basket was not his hard-earned award, he did not say anything and kept quiet. "This is also not his hard-working payment," the father believed. The father chose his friend, who was not very rich but not so poor. When the father sent his son to his third friend, he told his friend. "Please teach my son properly. You don't need to give him any fees. You order him to do things as you like until he can stand up on his own feet." His friend accepted the father's request and said, "This is because you trusted me and sent him so that I will train him with all my might." The last friend did not feed the son delicious food. "Today, you have to work in that area," the last friend ordered the son, and he did his job. The next day, the last friend said to the son, "Wow, you did so well." Then he gave him a more extensive area to work. He ordered the son to do more and more jobs working non-stop. The older man rested in the farmhouse, so the boy was getting angry. Even though he was furious, his father sent him to work there for a year. Therefore, he worked so tiredly. He did his tasks, and one year had passed. His skin became very darkened. When he went back home, his father greeted him joyfully. "Wow, my son worked until his skin darkened this year. You must have worked so hard," the father welcomed him and asked, "My son, did you work very hard, and are you tired?" The son replied, "Yes, I am so exhausted." The last friend also gave him two gold baskets. "Father, I got these baskets as a salary for my hard work. I had these from dropping the wages of my sweat." The father pretended to throw like before. When he lifted his hand to throw the baskets, his son said, "Father, please don't throw them. These are my wages from working hard. I was so exhausted this time." When the father heard about it, he hugged his son and said, "My child. I did it before because I knew that you did not work. So you did not say anything when I threw them. You worked for your dear life this time, so you feel sorry to lose them. Therefore you put your effort into working like this your whole life. You will become rich." The father taught his son a life lesson.
