Title Tsa pa sha ai woi hpung a lam (A troop of monkeys that ate fermented rice) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
Once upon a time, a man worked in a cornfield for his living. When it was time to reap corn, a troupe of monkeys ate them all. So he could not reap every year. This year, he did well in his cornfield. One day, he went to his corn field and brought zyme, which he had made. He put the zyme in a bamboo container and placed it in a farmhouse. Then he left for the cornfield. After he worked and returned to the hut, he felt tired and thought, "I am going to eat zyme," but nothing was left. He saw monkeys stagger. So he got an idea. The next day, he brought the zyme in a big pot. Then he placed the pot in the farmhouse and thought, "I will peep monkeys what they are doing today. How do they all eat?" After that, he watched it silently. They only ate the zyme from the pot as soon as the monkeys arrived. They ate and ate the zyme, were drunk, and then died from overeating. After all the monkeys died, the man sold their meat and everything from the monkeys. In the end, he became very rich after selling.

Atsawm sha galaw na she lani mi ten hta shi e hkainu sun de sa rai yang she dai shaloi shi tsa tsa pa galaw gun ai da. Kawa ndum kaw tsa pa galaw gun na yi wa kaw tawn da ai da. Yi wa kaw tawn da na she shi hkainu sun de sa mat ai da. Bungli sa galaw na bai wa shi grai ba na "Tsa pa wa sha na re" ngu wa yang tsa pa nnga mat ai da. Woi ni wa she ndi nda rai rai mat wa ai mu ai da. Dai she e hpang shani gaw shi chye sai da yambu kaba kaw she tsa pa la sa wa sai da. Tsa pa la sa wa na she yi wa kaw wa shadun da ai da "Daini gaw ngai hpa mi nga nga naw lagu yu nga na re woi ndai ni gaw gara hku re kun" ngu na she "Gara hku sha ma ai kun" ngu na she yu nga ai da. Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
