Title Chyahkawn kasha rem ai la a lam (The man who raised a wolf) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
Now, I am telling a story about a boy who raised a wolf as a pet. A long time ago, a father bought a pup (a baby wolf) to play with his son one day. The boy shot birds, caught crickets, worms, and caterpillars to feed the pup as well as he put traps to get wild birds and searched for meat for raising and protecting his pet. As the pup was growing, one day, he fell asleep because he was so tired while he was looking for birds for his pet to feed. While he was sleeping, the pup licked his legs and hands. The pup slurped the boy's limbs with its tongue again and again. The baby wolf's tongue was rough, and the pup licked the boy's body. As a result, the boy's skin was perforated, and the pup tasted human blood. The wolf accidentally tasted its owner's blood, and it became wild back as its' natural. So the baby wolf bit and ate the boy. That's why we should not raise and protect someone who is already our enemy and wild.

Mari ya yang she shi gaw dai chyahkyawn kasha hpe e u ni gap jaw, nam na gadawn ni hpa ni, shingtai shingkraw ni rim jaw, u ni tam hkam jaw, shan ni tam jaw di na bau maka kaba ai da. Bau kaba re yang she lani mi na shi gaw dai chyahkyawn hpe e shat jaw sha na matu nam de u ni gap hkawm re na she grai ba na shi gaw yup nga sai da. Yup nga re yang she ndai chyahkyawn kasha gaw shi a lagaw lata hkan mata hkrai mata, mata hkrai mata re yang she, mata mata re jang gaw chyahkyawn gaw shi na lagaw kaw shi na shinglet mazut ai re majaw she dai shi a na matu ma a hkum hpe mata jang she mazut nna shi hpyi ni waw mat na she sai ni lu mata sha hkrup sai da. Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
