Title Majan laka ka (The Jaiwa song) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
Now, Uncle wants to tell my niece about minstrels in the Manmaw area among the Kachin people. There was a minstrel in Manmaw (also known as Myit Sin Li). People did minstrel performances and mostly in happy times. As I told you just now, we did a minstrel, and we did the work of Jai Wa (a professional narrator of Kachin traditional lore as the highest authority to commence the house-entering ceremony.) Those Jai Wa took care of the history of how the house was becoming as a story. The minstrel man praised the family for being happy living, blessed and prosperous from the day they entered this new house. Minstrelling is used for complimenting the house and giving a speech to be inheritance, blessing, and perfection. We can use two places. When a husband marries a wife or on a wedding day, and we perform a new house-entering ceremony, we do the minstrel dance but not the other things. I want to show how it works. My voice is not good enough to sing, so I don't dance. It sounded, "Tek Tek Tek, e le le le e. Today is about this dowry." "Goi! My voice is not good, so I am stopping the performance here."

Mi ah gu nang hpe tsun dan sai hte maren ndai dingshaw htingga nta nnan hkalum hkala dingshawn shang ai shaloi gaw ndai majan laka ka ai jai wa wa ai ngu ai ndai ni nga malu ai. Ndai ni gaw jaiwa ni gaw ndai nta gara hku byin wa ai hpe labau moi na maumwi mausa hku gawn ai. Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
