Description	Translation (Htoi Awng) I am going to tell a story about a giant stone in one village. The giant stone was just near the village. But no one could go there. People couldn't do farming there too. If they farmed, they died. So, the villagers were afraid and didn't farm there. There were many pigeons near that huge stone as well. When the villagers tried to catch those birds, the giant stone transformed into an old man with grey hair and drove the people away. People who saw him were dead or babbled like fools. Some were getting seriously sick and said, "We dreamt about that old man. He said that he gave us punishments because we killed his children." That giant stone is still there. People are not afraid to go near that giant stone today. There is no serious case like in the past even though we go there. It's because everyone has his own faith and religion. But if we are weak in faith and religion, guardian nat of that giant stone can still take our lives. Yi mung nmai hkyen sha ai, yi sa hkyen yang mung yi hkyen ai ni hpe masha ni si wa i, dan re yi hkyen ai sa wa, dan na she yawng gaw hkrit na kadai n galaw ai. Retim mung kalang mi gaw shanhte ni kaw gaw galoi mung u ra ni sumpum sumpam nga ai da. U ra ni sumpum sumpam nga jang she dai kaw e ura ni sa gap sha, re yang mung ura gap ai ni hpe mung kalang lang gaw shi gaw masha (yaungsaung) na le i, masha zawn re (yaungsaung) na baw ahpraw re na dingla hku na pru nna she e shi gaw dai ura gap ai ni hpe mung amyu myu di na dingbai dingla jaw na, sa gap sha ai ni hpe tim shi gaw si mat shangun ai le i, si mat yang gaw dai si mat ai ni gaw amyu myu hku na shanhte ni jawp wa ai le. Collection title	Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description	Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
