Title Yu Hpraw Hkawn hte Yu Chyang Gam (Yu Hpraw Hkawn and Yu Chyang Gam) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
A long time ago, there were 'Yu Hpraw Hkawn' and 'Yu Chyang Gam.' Yu Chyang Gam fell in love with Yu Hpraw Hkawn, so he said love words to her. Yu Hpraw Hkawn answered him, "I don't like you. I will marry the stronger one." "So the Sun is the strongest and can light up in the whole world. I will marry the Sun." Then she went to the Sun and asked, "Sun, I will marry you as you can spread your light to the whole world, and you are the strongest. I will wed you." The Sun replied, "I am not strong. Even though I try hard to shine, the Cloud covers me. Therefore I cannot shine as much as I want to. The Cloud is the strongest." She went to the Cloud. Yu Hpraw Hkawn got to the Cloud and said, "Cloud, I will tie the knot with you." "You are so much stronger than anyone else. I want to marry the powerful one, so I will marry you." The Cloud answered, "I am also not strong enough. I cannot conceal as much as I want as the Wind blows me away. So I am not sturdy, but the Wind is." "You go for the Wind." Then she went to the Wind, and he said, "I am not powerful. I want to blow everywhere, but the mountain blocks me. I cannot pass through it, so I am not strong enough. Therefore you go to the mountain." Thus she tried the mountain, "Mountain, you are stronger than others so that I will wed you." The mountain replied, "I am not hardy. Even though I want to be big, the buffalo knocks on his horns, making a landslide. Therefore I could not become bigger because of him. So you had better go to the buffalo." When the girl reached the buffalo and requested, "Mr. Buffalo, you are so sturdy, and I will marry you." The buffalo responded, "Oh, I am not sturdy. I cannot pass this rope. This rope is more powerful than me, so you go for him." The girl approached and asked for the rope, but it replied, "I want to be strong, but I cannot. If you want to get married to the strongest one, you go to Yu Chyang Gam. He is the sturdiest one." So she returned to the first one, Yu Chyang Gam.
