Title Hpa majaw (Why) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
A long time ago, a monkey inhabited a farm. That monkey always picked winter melons on the farm whenever it was ripened or sometimes not even ripened yet. While the monkey plucked an ash gourd, a small bee stung him. The monkey was shocked as the bee stung him, and he let the ash gourd drop. Then the winter melon was rolling down. The winter melon rolled and hit a wild boar at the border of a field eating corn. The wild boar was amazed by the rolling winter melon and dashed straight. Thus he struck down a bumpy boom sprout from a clump of bamboo. So that the bamboo shoot spun and dropped into a lake. A spirit lady was fetching water at the lake. She fetched water with a bamboo water vessel. As the bamboo shoot fell into the lake, it hit a prawn that stayed in that lake. Then the prawn bounced into the girl's water vessel. The spirit girl carried the water in a vessel and drank the water when she got home. After she drank the water, she felt sick, and her stomach became big. Her belly became bigger and bigger as she was ill. She tried to cure it in many ways but could not get better as she drank that water alone. Her parents had only her, and she was getting worse day by day, even though they cured and treated her with many methods. "Now, we have only one daughter. If she dies, which is not good." Her parents were worried about her, but despite how hard her parents tried, she passed away at last. She died with her big belly. The parent thought, "We cannot bury her with this big stomach." "What is wrong with her abdomen?" So her parents decided to open up her belly to see what was inside. When they checked her stomach, the prawn was inside the spirit girl's belly. They found a crawfish and asked, "Hey, Prawn, how did you come inside our daughter's stomach?" "We only have one daughter, and now she has already died." "Why are you here?" The prawn begged them, "I am so sorry. I did not want to be inside here. I am facing many difficulties because I am here." "I was happy living in the lake. A bamboo shoot hit me where I was, and I bounced." "After that, I am here like this place," explained the prawn. So the spirit girl's parents asked for the bamboo shoot. "Bamboo shoot, why did you do that? Our one and only child passed away." "I just happily stayed in the bamboo tree clamp with my friends. I was planning to become taller and be a very nice bamboo tree which could be helpful for humans." "This wild boar hit me, so I fell into this valley," explained the bamboo shoot. So they asked the wild boar again. "Wild boar, why did you do that? Because of you, we lost our single daughter." "Why did you do that?" The wild boar replied to them, "I also did not want to be like that." "When I was at the field border joyfully and finding food, a rock pumpkin was rolling surprisingly towards me. Therefore I was scared and ran away. So it happened because of this." "Winter Melon, why did you roll over?" asked the parents, and it said that it was because of a monkey. So they enquired the monkey, "Why did you do that?" "Because of this, my only child passed away. What are you going to do about this?" The monkey explained, "Yeah, I also did not want to be like that." "When I was plucking the winter melon cheerfully, Bee Tu stung me." They looked for the bee and asked him, "Bee Tu, why did you do that? Because of you, many problems come up one by one." "We also lost our daughter's life. Why are you doing that?" Bee Tu did not know what to say, and he made his voice soft, "Nyut! Nyut! Nyut!" After that, he spun into a hole energetically. The Bee Tu flew into the hole and disappeared. Here is the end.
