Title Mali Hka hte Nmai Hka zup (History of the Myitsone confluence) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
In the past, there was a big rock at the confluence of May Hka and Mali Hka. There is water in that rock. I will tell you about it. A long time ago, two lovers lived on each side of the river. The girl lived in Tang Hpre village. It was really difficult for them to cross the river. She told him, "If you love me, come to me." He said, "I will come to you at night." They were not humans. But they transformed into humans and met each other. The boy said, "My lady, I will come to you at night." At night, he jumped Mali Hka in a big leap and went to the girl. They met every day and talked to each other. Then, she told him, "If you really love me, cross both Mali Hka and Nmai Hka." He said, "I have crossed Mali Hka because I love you. If you want me to cross both rivers, I will cross them and meet you." They always met at a place at the confluence. One day, she asked him, "If we meet here every night, will it be good for us? Can we still see each other often?" He answered her, "I am not sure." She asked him, "Since we have dated for many years, can we marry now?" He said, "Of course, we can. I don't know how to celebrate our wedding." She said, "I know how to do it." Later, the boy went back to his village, which was on the other side of the river. When he came to the girl, she told him, "Let's make up the story about us. You have crossed both Mali Hka and Nmai Hka to see me. So, I will be the water, and you will be the rock." The boy asked her, "Me? The rock?" She said, "Yes. Be the rock. I will be water. I will be water, and you will be the rock." He said, "Then, I think we should name ourselves." She said, "I will call myself Nam Sani Ta water. You will be called Matsaw Lung Hkrung. You will be Matsaw Lung Hkrung (rock), and I will be Nam Sani Ta Hka (water)." They created their story. We can still see that rock and water at the confluence. They named the confluence like that. We can still see it.
