Title Sara shagrau poi ga shagawp (Praising Poem) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
I am going to talk about a poem to praise the in-charge catechist, Mr. Nlam Gam, and the assistant catechist, Mr. Laza Lawt Nawng. On October 23, 1916, there was a ceremony to pay homage to the catechists. Every Christian came to the ceremony with a gift basket of sticky rice, and other ingredients, and other presents to give the catechists. The catechists happily received the presents. Our catechist from Shagawng Mountain came down to the plain area. And he was named Nlam Gam. He knows everything about the past and is also up-to-date. He is an expert in customary law, but he never uses any drugs. He is also an expert in culture and tradition. Everyone wants him to be in their praying ceremonies. He always guides everyone on a spiritual path. He never complains and tries to talk with everyone. He always shows his smile to everyone and never shows anger. He always communicates happily with everyone. And he knows how to speak the Garu and Hkinru dialects. He always teases them, but never disregards them. Every Christian in his community respects him, and many catechists rely on him with respect. People escort him to pray at their homes. He also accepts their requests happily. He never refuses to go. When he comes back from the praying ceremony, his lovely wife welcomes him warmly. He feels refreshed then. They give good guidance to their children in education. Their children have graduated. Their walls are even fully covered with their graduation photos. However, they are not that rich. But they do not worry about money. They can even send their children abroad to study. Their love and affection for each other are so great. Our catechist and his wife always eat the meals their children prepare for them. They never complain about whether it is tasty or not. Even a green papaya tastes savoury. The assistant catechist, Laza Lawt Nawng, also guides every Christian to be good. He always smiles and never gets angry. He always tries his best to guide everyone and answer anyone's questions. He doesn't have a big body structure, but he has a booming voice. He is still an unmarried boy. He is over fifteen years old. We can say that he is a young man. There are many foreign ladies and young ladies from Myitkyina, but no one is good enough to be his wife. Think about it. Try to look for someone to be your wife. God will fulfill your wish. This is the poem to praise our catechists. Thank you very much.
