Title Hkra tai mat ai a lam (The man who became a cicada) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
A man became a cicada. Once upon a time, there was a man. One day, the man's mother asked him to clear a farm, although he was an idiotic person. He asked his mother, "Mother, how much paddy should I clear?" His mother answered, "Paddy? It will be enough if you can clear the size of the first wife's buttocks." As his mother told him, the man cleared the farm the whole day. His farm was in the forest, and he cut and removed, then sat and waited for after that, cleared again and waited for. After clearing the farm, he said, "I have done clearing the farm. What should I do next?" The mother replied, "Burn the dry paddy." After burning the dry paddy plants, he said, "I have done burning up." The mother told him, "Build the farmhouse." The son asked, "How big should I build?" The mother answered, "Oh, it is only for both of us." "It should be enough for the carapax of a crab." The man searched for a crab in the small stream the whole day. When he found it, he took out its shell and hung it on the farmhouse. He called his mother to plant the highland paddy field, and his mom agreed, "Alright, surely can." Then, his mother brought paddies. His mother stacked baskets one by one, carried a pile, and then followed her son. When she reached the farm, she saw his son had cleared a very small part of the paddy field, and he built the farmhouse only covered with a crab shell. Therefore, she was so fed up. She widely scattered her baskets to soothe herself. It made her son have wings, and he became a cicada and then flew away. It was because his mother was so fed up, and he became a cicada.
