Title Grai lagu sha ai kawa la a lam (The father who stole a lot) with English translation
Description Translation (La Ring)
There was a father who really addicted to stealing. He was with his son. He was actually a believer of God but he stole things. At a time, while he and his son were just passing by someone's mustard leaf plantation farm, he told his son to watch out whether the owner of the farm would come so that he could steal mustard leaves for the dinner for his family. Then, his son was standing at the mustard leaf plantation farm's entry gate to guard his father. His father was already on his way to steal the mustard leaf. His son remembered what his father taught him that God taught us not to steal so we could not steal things. So, he suddenly told his father that "Dad, even the owner of the farm does not come, God can still see us". And his father realized that too and came back home without stealing. From that time onwards, he realized and regretted that he had been teaching bad things to his son and he never stole again. This is the end of the story.

Grai lagu sha sha re kawa la langai mi nga ai da. Kalang mi na gaw shi kasha lawm ai hku re nga. Shi kasha lawm ai, karai kasang e gaw kam sham, lagu gaw grai lagu re la da, re na she kalang mi na gaw shi kasha lawm ai da, shi kasha lawm na she masha ni chyinghkrang hkai tawn ai hku lai na she ma e nang ning kaw chyinghkrang sun madu ni sa wa n sa wa yu u, wa chyinghkrang dai na de sha na si mai naw gan di la gaw yaw ngu yang she, shingnga na kasha gaw dai chyinghka lam kaw tsap nga sai da. Kawa gaw chyinghkrang sa da na matu sa wa. Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
