Title Hpaji rawng ai gwi kanu a lam (The clever dog mother) with English translation
Description Translation (Seng Pan)
The story is about a wise mother dog. A long time ago, there was a dog couple. They worked the whole day in their field. On their way back home, the wife dog wanted to give birth before they reached home. It also started raining. But they couldn't find a place to give birth. The only place they found was a tiger cave. "Let's stay here! I couldn't resist anymore," the wife dog said. And she gave birth there. She said, "Honey, you have to watch out for tigers at the entrance of this cave." While the mother dog was removing the thin sac from her babies, a tiger came to the cave. The father dog was shocked and shouted, "A tiger is coming!" "No need! No need!" his wife replied. The mother dog bit her puppies in order to make some noise. Then she yelled, "Honey, your babies are starved for the tiger meat." As the tiger heard it, he got shocked and ran away. The monkey who saw the whole story said the tiger, "They lie to you. They just worried that you would eat their babies. How could the dog eat tiger? If you don't trust me, let's go there together by tying our tails. When it needs to run, let's run together." The monkey persuaded and took him to the cave. When both were getting near, the mother dog said, "Monkey, you have to give me back my money. I told you the tiger should be two fathoms and why you brought this tiger who isn't even a fathom to me." The tiger was of dread and fled.
