Title Asak kaba ai ni hpe hkungga ra ai lam (The rich man and the old woman) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
The third story I am going to tell you is about an old woman. She wanted to go to Myitkyina, so she asked a rich man to take her there. She told him three days ago, so the man didn't remember and went to Myitkyina alone by car. He remembered her when he was already in the middle of the way to Myitkyina. Then he told the driver, "Let's go back. I forgot about the old grandmother who asked me to take her to Myitkyina. I will pay the car rental fees. Let's go back." The driver refused to go back. He told the rich man, "You just leave my car. I can't go back. I am so sorry." Then the rich man waited for another car and returned to Hpakant. He picked her up and went to Myitkyina together. On the way, he saw that the first car he rode got in an accident. Some passengers were dead, and some were seriously injured. This is a short story. However, we should learn to show respect, love, and kindness to the elders. Thank you.

Sa tsun da ai gaw 2, 3 ya na mat sai re majaw dai lauban wa gaw shi gaw dai dinggai hpe ndum ai sha shi gaw myitkyina de mawdaw hte yu mat wa ai da. Dai shaloi shi gaw lam kaang kaw du yang e dai gumgai hpe myitdum dat ai, myitdum dat re na she e mawdaw driver hpe e she nhtang ga ngai grai gumgai asak kaba sai gumgai langai mi hpe malap kau tawn da sai. Ndai mawdaw shabrai mahkra na ngai jaw na, nhtang ga ngu na tsun ai da. Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
