Description	Translation (Rita Seng Mai) Everything is good for those who are patient and humble. Once in a village, there was a man who always said 'it's okay'. When he got punched or hit, he always said 'it's okay'. One day, he climbed a tree to cut the branches. Unfortunately, he fell from the tree. The villagers thought, "Oh, that okay man might die today." But he was totally fine, nothing bad happened to him. Tiger attacks were extreme that year. The tigers caught cows, dogs and other animals from the village. The tigers often attacked human. When only one person went to the field, he would definitely get attacked by tigers. So at least two or three people had to go there together. One day, the okay man and his family went to their field. The wife put the sleeping baby on the bedstead. And they started cleaning the grass and weeds. At that moment, the tiger took the baby away. The wife saw it and shouted, "My baby is being attacked by the tiger!" But he said, "It's okay. Everything will be fine." He kept saying, "It's okay, my wife." Then his wife got angry and said, "Why are you so calm? Your baby is taken by the tiger!" He kept saying, "Don't worry. It's okay." She said, "No, let's follow the tiger." Then they chased the tiger. The baby was covered with a blanket while he was sleeping. The tiger thought the baby was completely inside the blanket, so it bit the knot of the blanket and ran away. They just took knives and chased the tiger in order to save their baby. They were making noises and chasing the tiger. The tiger was scared and ran away quickly. Luckily, the baby fell from the blanket. The man saw his baby with the diaper near the outskirts. He said, "See. I said everything would be okay." Since he said that everything would be fine, nothing serious happened to him. When we have a fight or quarrel with others, we should bear with them patiently. Then everything would be easy for us. Our ancestors told us that things would get more serious and bigger if we don't tolerate or bear it. Collection title	Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description	Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
