Title Wa hte gwi (The pig and the dog) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi San)
The eighth story also happens among our human beings quite often. The proverb we used to say was, 'A dog erased an imprint of a pig.' The ancient people said, "Dogs and pigs are working tiredly and very hard. But for the pigs, let people kill and eat them." So the pig rooted out the soil with its snout. It turned out everywhere. The pig unearthed the ground, filling many imprints throughout the yard. The dog made marks on the soft ground where the pig rooted out with its snout. When the owner came home and saw the unearthed marks, he said, "Oh my! Who did this work today?" The dog answered, "It was me." It took out its protruding tongue and sat down. "I worked here the whole day. See, here are my footprints. So I am so tired." "So it caused my tongue to jut," replied the dog. The one who was tired was the other, and the dog did nothing, but it took the opportunity. The dog has a chance to eat what people eat until today. The dog got the favor, and it was treated well. Here was the story about the dog and the pig.

Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
