Description	Translation (Htoi Awng) The story which I am going to tell is about a widow and her son. She had only one son. But he didn't listen to her. He did not obey and love her so much too. Sometimes, she felt sad since her son didn't listen to her. He didn't plough the field too. He ploughed when he wanted. One day, the mother said, "My son, go to the field first and plow there. I will bring some cooked rice and follow you soon." In the previous days, whenever she brought some cooked rice to him, he always complained that rice was not tasty or she was late. On that day, the mother packed the foods and brought them to him as a routine. While he was waiting for his mom by sitting on a fallen tree trunk, he saw a bird nest at the top of the tree. The bird mother found some food in the field and fed her babies with her mouth. He saw that and thought to himself, "My mother would do the same thing like this bird. She treated me well since I was born. So, I will treat her well start from today. I will pick her up when she comes here." As he was thinking like that, the mother was scared him too. Actually, the son regretted that he mistreated his mom. When he saw that his mom was coming to him, he ran to pick her up. But she thought that her son was angry on her and he was coming to kill her. So, she immediately turned and tried to run away. Then, she hit the tree accidently and died. The son was just coming to help his mother since he regretted when he saw that even the bird mother was feeding the foods to her babies. But his mother was afraid of him and tried to run away. At that time, she hit the tree and died right there. He regretted late. This is the end of the story. His mother would not die if he showed his love on his mother earlier. He regretted that he mistreated his mother and decided to treat her well. But unfortunately, his mother was dead after accidentally hit by a tree. His regret was late. In Jinghpaw language, it is called "Sana Hka" and it means "Late regret." Transcription (Lu Awng) Ah dwi hkai na maumwi gaw kasha magam gaida hkanu ni re da. Collection title	Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description	Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
