Title Ma Kaw hte Ma Lu (The good first daughter and the bad second daughter) with English translation
Description Translation (Htoi Awng)
Long time ago, there was an old mother who had got two daughters. Both of her daughters were married. The younger daughter was married and the elder daughter was married too. The younger daughter was married to the son of the rich family. As days passed by, the old mother couldn't do any work properly. She was getting ill and starved too. The old mother decided to go to her younger daughter because her daughter got married to the rich. She thought she could stay happily with her daughter. So, she went there with happy hopes. At that time, the younger daughter was holding a big celebration at her home. And the old mother went there. She wore poorly. It seemed like she even had bad breath because she didn't take a bath for a long time. Her younger daughter pretended like she didn't know her. And the younger daughter told her servants, "Drive this old woman away from here." Then, her mother said, "My daughter, it's me. It's me! Your mom." But she said, "No, you aren't my mother. She is not my mom. Take this old woman away. Send her somewhere!" So, her servants drove her mother away. The old mother was heartbroken and went to her elder daughter. The elder daughter warmly welcomed her when she arrived there. Her elder daughter treated her well and prepared bed for her too. Then, she slept happily. At midnight, there were loud thundering and lightning strikes in the sky while the old mother was sleeping soundly. God punished the younger daughter who treated her mother badly. The younger daughter got hit by a lightning strike and her heart was taken out. And it was put beside the place where the old mother was sleeping. The mother was awake and told her elder daughter, "I got bloody smell. What's that? Come and check please." Her elder daughter said, "It is a heart of a human!" The mother knew that it was the heart of her younger daughter and God punished her daughter. She was very sorrowful and sad. And she died too. This story wants to tell us that we should not mistreat our mothers in anywhere or any situation no matter how rich we are or educated. After God, we should worship and treat our parents well. If we mistreat our parents, we could get a punishment like that. This story wants to point out about that.
