Title Lasawk nat a lam (The caterpillar spirit) with English translation
Description Translation (by Rita Seng Mai)
This is about the event which happened in Shan State. One of my friends is a hunter and he guards a corn field at night. Then one day at dusk, he dragged some brunches of trees and made a fire. While he was sitting by the fire, a Nat spirit called Lasawk haunted him. He had uncanny sense that he was not alone and he heard crackling sounds the whole night. He didn't know that he was haunted by Lasawk Nat. He cursed and shot rounded stones like marble with bamboo bow. Then, it was getting worse. Lasawk Nat made strong creaking sounds from the roof and strong cracking noises from the corn field. Then, he was so shocked and flabbergasted. At first, he thought it might be the other Nat (spirit) and he didn't know that it was Lasawk Nat so he shot some stones with bow and cursed. While he was sleeping, his blanket was being pulled and thrown. Then, he immediately knew that it might be Lasawk Nat. So, he apologized to Lasawk Nat for cursing and shooting stones with bow. After he had apologized, before long he didn't hear any noises and sounds. That's why when we go into the forest, we can't drag trees or brunches or woods. If we drag brunches or trees, we will be haunted by Lasawk Nat. So, in the forest, if we need some brunches or trees or woods to make a fire, we have to carry them without dragging.
