Title Chyahkyawn hte u hka a lam (The wolf and the crow) with English translation
Description Translation (Gun Mai)
The title of the story is a wolf and a crow. A long time ago, a crow saw a piece of meat on the ground of a kitchen of humans. So, the crow immediately went and grabbed the piece of meat with his mouth. She returned happily and was about to eat on a tree. When the crow was holding the piece of meat, a wolf was crossing under the tree. When the wolf was crossing the tree, he looked at the tree and saw the crow who was holding the piece of meat. So, the wolf wanted to eat the piece of meat and was thinking about how to get it. Then, the wolf got an idea and said to the crow that "Hi friend crow, you are very beautiful. Your appearance is also very beautiful. Your look is also very beautiful. I am sure that your voice might also be very good. You even should be a queen among all the birds. I want to hear your voice even only one time." Then, the crow was very happy with the compliments so she made a sound. As soon as she made a sound, the piece of meat was dropped so the crow was amazed. Then, the wolf said to the crow that "Friend crow, you are very beautiful and your voice is also very good. But, you still need to improve intelligence. You are not enough only with that," and the wolf ate the piece of meat. The crow lost the piece of meat because she just did what other people asked her to do without thinking well herself first whether it was right or not.

Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
