Title Bai nam gwi a rung la kau ai lam (The goat who stole the horn of dogs) with English translation
Description Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
This story is about how a goat got a dog's horns. Once upon a time, the villagers from a village were raising many dogs and goats. In the past, dogs had horns. The goats didn't have any horns. The dogs were always finding delicious food to eat. They licked the tasty food from the mortar. At that moment, a dog liked licking the food in the mortar. Then, he plucked his horns off and put them beside it. A goat passed by, saw those horns and put them on his head. And he walked away. So, the dog hated the goat. The dogs usually chased the goats and bit them hard. The dog I raised in the past also bit the goats whenever it saw them. In fact, they are fighting over the horns. This is the end of the story.

Agwi she nrung lu ai she bainam gaw nrung ntu ai re wa gwi gaw nau ju na she "Wo masha ni chyingnam htu sha hpa hpa lama mi htu ai htum hku kaw wa sa mata sha na" ngu shang yang she dai shi nrung wa dut jang she nrung wa malaw la na htum lap kaw hkra di tawn na she shi gaw le de chyingnam htu ai hkang mata sha sau hpa rai htu ai mata sha nna naw gum nga ai lapran she bainam she shi nrung wa hta shachyawp kau ya nna dai gwi a nrung ya bainam dagraw da rai ya agwi ni bainam hpe grai nju gawa sat wa wa. Collection title Kachin folktales told in Jinghpaw
Description Recordings of Kachin folktales and related narratives in Jinghpaw. These materials were collected by Keita Kurabe, Gumtung Lu Awng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, Labang Tu La, Gumtung Htu Nan, and Lashi Seng Nan as part of community-based collaborative fieldwork in northern Myanmar. A total of 2,491 stories with 2,481 ELAN files, 2,481 transcriptions, and 1,369 translations are currently available (March 25, 2024). Transcriptions were contributed by Gumtung Lu Awng, Pausa La Ring, Galang Lu Hkawng, Sumdu Ja Seng Roi, Hpauhkum Htu Bu, and Keita Kurabe. Stories were translated by Nbanpa Rita Seng Mai, Sumlut Gun Mai, Lazing Htoi San, Maran Seng Pan, Dumdaw Mike Tu Awng, Nhkum Htoi Awng, and Keita Kurabe.
