A story told by Lawrence Poduga. In the traditional past, marriages in Nagovisi were made with a hunting arrow or a spear. If a young man liked a young girl of the marrying clan or tribe, he would leave an arrow at the door of the girl's family house without anyone knowing. Upon seeing the arrow, the parents would go to the house of the potential marriage clan men and find out. Once confirmed, a marriage is arranged for the couple. In the traditional marriage, the arrow, engagement, courtship and traditional wedding, were very important factors of a marriage. Today, none of this exists. |
