Description |
A story told by Lawrence Poduga. In the past, when a person was sick for a long time, people used the "Tooke'", a special wooden platform that was built to search for the poison man or woman. The wooden platform was built only by special people, where sacrifices were offered to feed the ancestors of the sick and to help find the poison person. The platform was believed to have the power to dig up or find places where the sick person's belongings were buried by the poison person, making the person sick. After the Tooke', the sick person was cured, other times the sick person died. Tooke' is no longer practiced. |
