Title Collection Guide: Guides to Cassette and Reel-to-Reel Tapes from 1971-1976
Description The images within this item were taken of a large notebook in which typed papers had been adhered to the pages within. This guide provides information about all of the cassette and reel-to-reel tapes that were collected between 1971 and 1976. The tape series are listed below:

Cassettes: 1971-1972, Frazer's original tape numbers MC1-MC28 (PARADISEC items: 117-144); 1973-1974, original tape numbers C1-C89 (PARADISEC items: 145-232); 1975-1976, original tape numbers C105-C107; C109-C110, C120-C184 (PARADISEC items: 233-235, 237-238, 248-312, respectively).

3" Reel-to-reel tapes: 1973-1974, original tape numbers S1-S13 (PARADISEC items 313-322).

5" Reel-to-reel tapes: 1972, original tape numbers B51-B122 (PARADISEC items 323-373).

IF01-003-Guide_TapeSeries71_76.pdf collects all the individual images from the guide to serve as a convenient, lower-resolution version.

A second document for the MC1-MC28 tape series recorded in 1971-1972 was also provided as an additional digital list. This is included here as IF01-003-Guide_TapeSeries71_72.pdf

Collection title North Malaita Field Notes and Recordings
Description From 1971 to 1985, Ian Frazer conducted fieldwork in North Malaita, Solomon Islands, mainly To'abaita but with neighouring groups as well (Lau, Baelelea, Pijin). During that time he built up a large collection of tapes, photos, field notes and other material. There are over 200 cassettes and over 40 reels of mixed content - music (traditional and contemporary), traditional stories, history, life histories, traditional and present day customs/culture, ngali nut production, political history, labour history, and much else.This collection was located as a result of PARADISEC's 'Lost and Found' project and digitisation was funded by an ELDP Legacy Materials Grant and the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Dynamics of Language.
